Which TV mount should you buy?

A plain guide to fixed, tilting and full-motion TV wall mounts, which one fits your room, and what to check before you order.

The mount matters as much as the TV. Pick the wrong one and you end up with glare you can't fix, a TV that sticks out too far, or a big swing arm you never actually use. Here's how to choose.

Fixed mounts

A fixed mount holds the TV flat against the wall, usually about an inch or two out. It's the cleanest look and the most solid option. Choose fixed when the TV is at eye level from your main seat and there's no window glare to deal with.

Tilting mounts

A tilting mount lets the top of the TV angle down. That helps when the TV is a little higher than ideal or when light from a window or sliding door hits the screen in the afternoon. Florida rooms with a lot of glass usually benefit from a tilt.

Full-motion mounts

A full-motion mount has an arm that pulls out and swivels. It's the right call for corner placements, open kitchen and living rooms where you watch from two spots, or bedrooms where you want to angle the TV toward the bed. They stick out further from the wall and need a stronger anchor point, which matters on Jacksonville's block and plaster walls.

Before you order

  • Check the VESA pattern on the back of your TV (for example 300 x 300) and make sure the mount lists it
  • Check the weight limit, and leave some margin
  • For full-motion, check the arm length so the TV can reach where you want it
  • Measure the wall width if you're mounting between windows or in a corner

We can bring one

If you don't have a mount yet, tell us your TV size and room when you book and we can bring a good one. Mounts are charged at cost with no markup. TV mounting is a flat $100 with one hour included, or $150 with the wires hidden.
